Got a new set of Avon Cobras last week; I love the Dunlops but only got 7,500 miles per set. Shop tech recommended these: 130-70-18 front and 200-55-17 rear for additional mileage, similar feel and lower price...we'll see. I only have a few miles on them, will update later...Capjack

What a difference in ride quality, grip, everything from the stock Dunlop. Even when new, the Dunlop would slip/skid with any kind of lean angle under very little acceleration. nothing like that from the Cobra. I did go from stock 180/55-18 to a 200/55-18 and it really fills the fender up with no rubbing anywhere. It's tight, though, about 3/8" from the swingarm. Haven't been able to run any hard twisties but the Avons really stick. Feels good in the rain, too.

I went through 2 sets of the Metzeler ME 880s(150/80B-16 front and 180/70R-16 rear) and got 7,561 out of the first set and 7,001 out of the second set. I was wanting to try something different. The Metzelers was a vast improvement over the stock Bridgestones and other than mileage, I was happy with them. I got my set of Avon Cobras (witch are radials front and rear)mounted and took it for a 200 mile break-in ride. The difference between the Cobras is as large as the difference between the Bridgestones and 880s were. The handling is more nimble than the 880s, and the ride (smoothness) is much, much better, like going over expansion joints in bridges/roads, tar snakes in the road, manhole covers, etc., etc. Depending on the mileage I get, even if it's the same as the 880s, this will more than likely be the the brand of tires I will run from now own. I couldn't believe the difference in the way the bike handled when I switched to the 880s, and the difference when I switched to the Cobra...
