I like having a face shield. I have been hit a few times by very large bugs and some rocks. Without the shield it would have hurt - and I would have had yellow bug guts on the entire right side of my face! Two downsides: 1)because it is angled outward from the forehead, the wind tends to blow up and under the shield and bothering my eyes, making glasses still necessary; 2)it gets in the way if you want to interact with people. I bought one of these for my children as well to protect their face.
