My wife and I used this product a few times and it seems to be a very nice system for the money. Clear stereo sound with no wind noice on an open faced helment. The only downfall was the extension patch cord connecting the two riders. But it was still worth the trouble. Very pleased and would buy another one!
My wife and I used the product on for the first time this weekend, 0-55 excellent reception over 55 with open faced helmet and faceshield has a lot of wind noise .. but worked well enough to enjoy both music and talk if needed ..
I've used the Chatterbox with a cruiser, sport and sport-touring bike...it works great in all situations. While it's not elaborate, it does a nice job of two up passenger/rider communications and with an mp3 or similar device the added benefit of your favorite tunes is icing on the cake!!! On the down side, the cords can get in the way and tangle an unsuspecting riding during dismount (glad no one saw me hit the ground at the gas station in W.V. last summer!)
We rode (270+ miles one way) this weekend from Denton, Texas to the Twisted Sisters (Hwys 335, 336 and 337) South of Medina, Texas and back. The HJC-50 came with no instructions for installation and this was our first time using them. It took a few different configurations before we could hear each other. The only way to get it to work is to make sure it is a clear shot from speaker to ear with nothing in between. But once we got that fixed we could hear each other or the MP3 player clearly even during high speed highway riding. If I had the money I would go for a better system, but on the cheap these are adequate.
We are on a trip in a strange city so it has been great to talk to each other as we are sightseeing. It is very clear and no static, not even interference from the wind! We are so glad we got it!
